Hormuud Salaam Foundation Hosts Annual Ramadan Quran Competition at Ali Jimale Mosque in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia, March 14, 2024 – Hormuud Salaam Foundation proudly hosted its annual Ramadan Quran competition at Ali Jimale Mosque, bringing together talented competitors. This prestigious event drew candidates from the Foundation's university scholarship program and the Al-Nur School for the Blind, sponsored by the Hormuud Salaam Foundation.

The competition was intense and uplifting, with 10 contestants competing in the 30 Juz category based on their memorization of the Quran, 8 in the 20 Juz category, and 5 in the 10 Juz category.

This esteemed event, a highlight of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, showcased the exceptional Quranic recitation and memorization skills of these young scholars, emphasizing its place in the lives of young Muslims. 

In the fiercely contested 30 Juz category, Abdullahi Adam Salah, an Agriculture and Environmental student from Somali National University, won the first position awarded $1,500. Abdimumin Mohamed Nor, a Geology student at Hormuud University, secured the second position with a $1,000 prize, while Abdullahi Mohamed Nor, studying Sharia and Law at Al-Arabiya University, earned the third rank and a $500 reward. 

The 20 Juz category saw Mohamed Ibrahim Osman, an Economics student from Somali National University, achieving the first position with a $1,000 award. Abdifatah Yusuf Abdi, studying Sharia & Law at Mogadishu University, won the second position and received $500. Mustaf Mohamed Omar, a dedicated blind student from East Africa University in Garowe, impressively earned the third rank, along with a $250 prize. 

In the 10 Juz category, Ayub Abdulkadir Dirie, pursuing Medicine and General Surgery at Benadir University, clinched the first position with a $500 award. Abdullahi Abdirizak Ismail, a Sharia and Law student at Somali National University, secured the second position and a $250 prize. The third rank went to Mohamed Abdirizak Adam, studying Sharia and Law at Islamic University, who received a $200 award.
