Somalia: Int’l Youth Day marked in Puntland

GAROWE, Somalia-Youth groups have marked International Youth Day with a big event in Puntland capital, Garowe on Friday, Garowe Online reports.

Puntland Youth, Labour and Sports Minister Abdirahman Sheikh Ahmed Abdule along with representatives from UNICEF, World Vision and Care International has led the ceremony held on the occasion of International Youth Day.

Members of youth and bands attended the event hosted by Puntland Development Research Center (PDRC).

Abdule firstly extended his congratulations to Puntland youth, cautioning them against trafficking, piracy and violent extremism.

International representatives participating in the event staged in commemoration of World Youth Day on their side promised to speed up programmes benefiting a better future for Somali youth.

Ecstatic artists rattled the event held under the theme: “Transform Vision into Action: Youth Engagement for Political Participation,” with patriotic songs.

Every year on August 12, World Leaders felicitate youth for their contribution to the development.
