Somalia: Puntland seeking to set out priorities for 2016

GAROWE, Somalia, January 2, 2016 (Garowe Online)-The President of Somalia’s Puntland Government Abdiweli Mohamed Ali has opened crucial retreat for ministries and parastatals in the state capital of Garowe on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

The performance review gathering, the second of its kind reviews deliveries over the past year, assesses challenges and will be setting out priorities for the New Year, 2016.

In his opening remarks televised live on Somali channels, Puntland President applauded the annual government retreat ‘a step to enhanced accountability’.

He added that such meetings divulge the public how effective the system has been.

Puntland is pitted to infighting between pro-ISIL faction and Al Shabaab militants in vast Bari region.

On Thursday, Ali’s government dodged lingering terror threats with passage of bills in cabinet meeting.
