KISMAYO, Somalia, January 13, 2016 (Garowe Online)-Somali political leaders will gather for critical conference on model for electoral transition by 2016 in the southern port city of Kismayo, Garowe Online reports.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has finally landed at Kismayo airport on Wednesday, three days after the due date of much anticipated talks.

Jubaland President Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) who received President’s entourage has announced that the forum will kick off on Thursday.

National consultative forum was initially slated for 10th of January; however the delay is being faulted on technical reasons.

International community members are pushing for more enhanced system than 2012 elections that brought first permanent government in over two decades to power.

In December, 2015, Somali leaders failed to adopt viable roadmap for 2016 elections.

Debate over return to 4.5 and district-based election model may be taking a center stage in the packed political discussions, analysts said.
