Somalia: Prime Minister Khayre opens national exams in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia- The Prime Minister of Somalia’s Federal government Hasan Ali Khayre, has kicked started the national examination of secondary schools on Saturday in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

23,000 Somali students will be setting for their final centralized examination in schools in Mogadishu city and Somalia’s regional states which will be supervised by the Ministry of Education.  

The final examinations will be held in 77 schools in Banadir region, Jubaland, Southwest, Galmudug and Hirshabelle regions, except in Somaliland, Puntland and areas controlled by al-Shabaab militants group.

Officials from the Ministry of Education are yet to comment on the reasons that centralized examinations is not held in some parts of the country.

This is the third centralized examination in which the Federal government administered for students who completed secondary schools in an effort to reform the education system since the collapse of central government in 1991.
