MOGADISHU, Somalia- Two senior officials, including former spokesman were killed on Saturday in two separate drive-by shootings in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

Armed gunmen traveling in a car have sprayed bullets on a vehicle carrying Mohamed Omar Hagafey, a former Himan and Heeb administration spokesman near Digfeer hospital in Mogadishu's Hodon district. However, the official was reported has succumbed to his wounds sustained in the drive-by shooting.

A similar attack has targeted a senior Somali Intelligence officer identified as Hassan Dheere at El Gabta junction in the capital, according to witnesses who spoke to GO over the phone.

The NISA officer has sustained serious injuries from the shooting and currently receiving medical care at a hospital. One of his bodyguards was confirmed dead in Saturday's attack in Mogadishu.

No group has yet claimed responsibility of the attacks amid security deterioration in the capital in the past weeks. The murder of the official is the latest in a series of target killing in Mogadishu, since the election of the new President of Somalia.

Somali government is yet to comment on the latest drive-by shooting in the capital that claimed the lives of former Himan and Heeb spokesman and prominent elders in Mogadishu
