Somalia: Cyclone Megh expected to graze Puntland
GAROWE, Somalia, November 7, 2015 (Garowe Online)-On the heels of tropical cyclone Chapala, meteorologists are warning that less devastating megh could strike already storm-hit Gardafui in Somalia’s northeastern state of Puntland on Monday, Garowe Online reports.
Puntland Interior Ministry said, it is closely following the situation, and has planned to adopt precautionary measures before Megn reaches to communities grappling with the wrath of Chapala.
On November 1, a string of coastal villages, notably Bargal, Alula, Bareda, Gumbah and Tohin were affected by strong winds and heavy rains.
Gardafui Governor, Abdulkadir Yusuf Mohamed told Garowe Online that Chapala dumped on many coastal areas in vast Bari region earlier this week.
Massive flooding reportedly swept undisclosed number of livestock into the Indian Ocean.
According to meteorologist, Kristina Pydynowski, megh is hurtling towards Puntland, which forms the tip of the horn.
Megh may trigger flooding and sporadic damaging winds on its way to Somalia.
