Somalia: Deal reached over dispute in Puntland

GAROWE, Somalia, July 19, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Following two months of mediation efforts, a dispute between Puntland presidency and former security commanders has been brought to an end overnight on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.
Both government and former Deputy Commander of Police force, Gen. Muhiyadin Ahmed Musse and ex-Spy Boss, Abdi Hassan Hussein made concessions according to sources who had been close to the quelling endeavor.
Puntland army commander-in-Chief, Gen. Saed Mohamed Hirsi (Saed Dhere) has been set to spearhead the integration of striking soldiers into the force.
The government assumed responsibility for the security of Gen. Musse and Hussein since they held key posts in the state security apparatus.
Missing support services and unpaid salaries were also shouldered by Puntland government.
Traditional leaders and Security Minister, Abdi Hirsi Ali (Qarjab) have brought about some progress in mediations in advance.
Somalia Prime Minister, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke and Jubaland President, Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) have intervened in the settlement of the dispute that dragged from March into late July on Saturday.
