Somalia: Ethiopian business delegation aims to boost trade ties with Puntland

GALKAYO, Somalia, August 25, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Ethiopian business delegation has arrived in Somalia’s northeastern state of Puntland for key talks on trade relationship and exchange of export items through the border, Garowe Online reports.

Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali hosted the Ethiopian delegation for a luncheon in Galkayo, hailing fresh economic ties between Puntland and Somalia’s neighbor to the west, Ethiopia.

Ethiopian consul general in Puntland Asmalash Woldamirat was leading the Ethiopian business community members who expressed their keenness in exporting livestock and other home-grown agricultural products to Puntland.

In attendance were Puntland’s Minister for Commerce Abdiweli Hirsi Abdulle Idhoguran, other government ministers and tycoons from the northeastern state.

President Ali said at the meeting, they are keen to receive Ethiopian businessmen and stakeholders in airlines industry, referring to Ethiopian airlines with open arms.

Puntland, located in northeastern Somalia will make fish exports, amongst other seafood items to Ethiopia according to officials.
