Justice, Religious Affairs and Rehabilitation Ministry announced the rain prayers, expected to be performed across the northeastern state on Monday during a meeting with Islamic Scholars on Saturday.

Deputy Minister of Justice, Mohamed Farah Adan urged residents of regional capitals, districts and villages to come out in large numbers to pray to Allah for rains.

Meanwhile, well-known cleric, Sheikh Mohamud Haji Yusuf indicated that rain-seeking prayers are Sunnah course of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be Upon Him).

Female Councillor in Bargal coastal town told Garowe Online that shortage of water endangered the lives of hundreds of pastoralists in far-flung areas in vast Bari region.

In July, each barrel of water valued at 200,000.00 S0. Sh. ($10). Water trucks wade through earthen roads in poor conditions to provide water to faraway villages along the Indian Ocean.

About 60% of population is reliant on raising of goats, sheep, camels and cattle for their livelihoods, however many households were left more destitute in recent famines.
