BOSSASO, Somalia, March 16, 2015 (Garowe Online)-A military court in Somalia’s north eastern state of Puntland has executed three alleged Al Shabaab members in the Gulf of Aden port city of Bossaso on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

Speaking at a press conference in the state capital of Garowe, Puntland Security Minister Hassan Osman Allore said that a firing squad executed-Mohamed Abdi Ahmed (Olol), Xajow Sheikh Nur Osman and Ismeal Abdulkadir Jama-for taking part in planned assassinations and a wave of terror attacks, mainly in Bossaso.

Allore added that the executed people were convicted of being active Al Shabaab members.

In 2014, Puntland security forces captured the three in Bossaso and on March 9, they appeared before Puntland military court.

In response to unrelenting rampage by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants, Puntland government stepped up criminal hearings, sentencing dozens of terror suspects to death while others were handed life imprisonment and jail terms ranging from two to ten years.

Puntland forces have long fought in sporadic clashes with militants in the rugged terrain of Galgala and hideouts along Golis Mounting ranges.

This year alone, more than three apparently coordinated terror attacks targeting high-ranking government officials occurred in the state’s most populous city of Bossaso.
