Somalia: Puntland President to station in Bosaso till term ends
BOSASO, Puntland- Close sources revealed that the President of semi-autonomous region of Puntland, Abdiwali Mohamed Ali “Gaas” was advised to relocate to Bosaso, the commercial city of Puntland region amid increase of opposition against his current administration, Garowe Online reports.
The sources indicated that state Parliament Speaker Ahmed Ali Hashi, has consulted the President Ali about the move but was strongly opposed by his Vice President Abdihakim Haji Omar who had rocky relationship with the President in the past months
Hashi informed Ali that current administration is facing stiff opposition in the capital Garowe after losing confidence from the public and state parliamentarians.
Bosaso city, which hosts the largest population in Puntland, considered an alternative solution for the President to end his term without encountering opposition oru till settling down the political storm.
Puntland President was blamed for abandoning responsibility towards his region amid continuous foreign trips and failed policy to tackle region enormous problems of worsening economy, drought and insecurity.

Similarly, state Parliament leadership was accused of incompetence, obstructing the work of Parliament committees to undermine government accountability in return for financial gains from Puntland leadership.
Parliament sources told GO that first Deputy Speaker, Abdihamid Shaikh Abdisalan has informed the President about the growing frustration among MPs against his administration and suggested for him to relocate to the State House in Bosaso.
The source added that Parliament leadership and other state MPs receive financial incentives from the President to obstruct any motions against his administration and accountability by Parliament committees.
Among those accused are first Deputy Speaker, second Deputy Speaker, Husain Haji Yasin, MP Sadiq Garad, MP Mohamed Farah Nuh and MP Mahmoud Farah Warsame, and other MPs.
Since the election of President Ali in January 2014, Puntland region has witnessed worsening security situation amid proliferation of terrorist groups, economical downfall and drought that affected thousands of venerable communities.
