GALKAYO, Somalia, November 23, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Puntland government in northern Somalia has called an attack on masons and constructions workers at key intersection connecting Garsoor to Galmudug-controlled Barahley neighborhood in central Somalia ‘aggression’, Garowe Online reports.

In a statement from Puntland Presidency, the northeastern state said, militiamen hailing from Galmudug opened fire, attacking civilians ‘unprovoked’ approximately at 8:30 in the morning.

While remaining committed to peace and stability, Puntland presidency warned of the grim consequences likely to be spawned by armed militias based in fledgling Galmudug.

On Monday morning, traditional leaders and businessmen embarked on joint mediations to de-escalate fresh tensions in restive Galkayo.

At least 50 people, mostly civilians were hospitalized with injuries, while close to a dozen were reportedly killed in fierce gun-battle by Sunday.

Meanwhile, Galmudug security Minister accused Puntland of encroaching into their territories.

Puntland and Galmudug have been at loggerheads over the very delimitations between vast north and southern parts of Mudug region.
