Norwegian Foreign Minister arrives in Somalia for one-day visit

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Ine Eriksen Soreide, arrived in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital on Monday, June 10, for a one-day visit, Garowe Online reports.

The visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister received a warm welcome at Aden Adde International airport from the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mahdi Mohamed Guled and other government officials.

Soreide has thanked Guled for the reception and noted that she was happy to be in the capital of Somalia, for the first time since Norway has re-established its diplomatic mission in the country.

Meanwhile, the deputy PM said he held a meeting with the FM and exchanged views on enhancing further the bilateral relations and cooperation between Somalia and Norway.

“Deputy Prime Minister today received Ine Eriksen Soreide. The Minister paid a one-day working visit to the country and held discussions on joint priorities with the country's leaders,” said Somali PM’s office.

On Sunday, June 9, UK’s Political Director Richard Moore paid one visit to Mogadishu and held critical discussions on boosting bilateral partnerships with Somali PM, Hassan Ali Khaire and other officials.
