Somalia: Clan elder killed in Beledweyne gun attack

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia, March 7, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Suspected Al Shabaab gunmen shot and killed a well-known clan elder in Hiran regional capital of Beledweyne of central Somalia on Friday evening, Garowe Online reports.

Relatives said, three gunmen carried out the killing, with some breaking their way into his home while others stood guard outside.

A bodyguard and toddler were also killed along with late Ahmed Siyar Adan.

The wife of the target-late Adan-sustained gunshot wounds, sources said.

Planned assassinations have been proliferating at an alarming rate in Beledweyne since January.

On December 17, unidentified assailants gunned down renowned businessman, Haji Omar Mohamed Nur (Quuraw).
