GAROWE, Puntland- President of Somalia's Federal government Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo delayed his planned visit to the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland, Garowe Online reports.

Sources at Villa Somalia country's Presidential Palace, revealed to GO that President Farmajo's trip to Puntland regions scheduled next week has been postponed. No date had been set for the official visit.

The President has been requested to delay his visit by Puntland government, after the state's Parliament lawmakers have overwhelmingly passed a vote of no confidence motion against the cabinet ministers last Tuesday over failure of state security, poor performance and corruption.

The state's request came after a ministerial committee that was assigned last Month, to organize the welcoming occasion of Somali President’s first visit to Puntland, apologized following cabinet dismissal.

Farmajo delayed his trip several times in the past because of Puntland's political turmoil.

An official at Puntland Presidential Palace said, President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali "Gaas" is facing pressure over the appointment of the new cabinet, as the state is set to mark the 19th anniversary of the establishment of state in August 1, 2017.

The official spoke to GO on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media over the issue. So far Puntland is yet to release an official statement, confirming the delay of the President's visit.

Since he took office in last February, following his election, Somali President paid domestic visits to some of the regional administrations in the country, including Southwest, Galmudug and Jubbaland.
