The head of Somali Immigration, Abdullahi Gaafow Mohamud has announced the launching of domestic flights connecting Mogadishu to Hargeisa after a pause in early February.

Gaafow gave a 21-day ultimatum to airlines to suspend all flights to Egal International Airport in Hargeisa.

He complained of restrictive measures imposed on Somali arrivals whom Somaliland allegedly force to comply with entrance permits.

In a letter sent to media houses, Immigration and Naturalization Office disclosed that complaints have been resolved.

Somaliland introduced sweeping measures to be exercised by immigration officers.

Somaliland, located in northwestern Somalia declared its independence from the rest of the country as a de facto sovereign state in 1991 but it has not been recognized internationally yet.
