Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry for National Security spokesperson Mohamed Musse Osman disclosed at media briefing that the security operations have been conducted in Hodan, Hawl Wadag, Warta Nabadda, Yaqshid and Heliwaa districts.

“82 people were captured in the latest security operations, after in-depth interrogations we found that of the 82 suspects, 22 were Al Shabaab members,” said Osman, adding that intelligence officers also seized two garages and five cars meant for terror operations.

Moreover, eyewitnesses have reported that vigilant security forces on foot carried out door-to-door swoops, questioning ordinary residents on the existence of alcohols-dealers hotbeds.

Meanwhile, ministry of security put weapons uncovered during the first phase of the ongoing security operations on display in the presence of reporters.

Beleaguered Al Shabaab militants reverted to suicide bombings, military-style ambushes and planned assassinations following severe setbacks on the frontline.
