Somalia: Parliament Speaker meets Federal MPs, clan elders in Baidoa

BAIDOA, Somalia Sept 6, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Federal Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari has held separate meetings with lawmakers and traditional leaders in Bay regional capital of Baidoa of southwestern Somalia amidst deeply embedded political crisis, Garowe Online reports.

Discussions centred on various solutions to deadlock over three-region state and speeding up of joint state building efforts, officials unveiled on Saturday.

Speaker Jawari addressed media members on the progress secured so far, saying technical committee would carry forward formation of federal state consisting of Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle regions.

Lawmakers who participated in regional deliberations are said to have stressed the need for unified stance on the prevailing political crisis and urged parties to resolve their differences through peaceful means.  

Somalia Federal Government and International community representatives voiced support for south-west state with three regions in the map.
