Somalia President congratulates Djibouti on Independence Day

MOGADISHU, Somalia, June 27, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated his Djiboutian counterpart Ismael Omar Guelleh on 38 years of independence on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

Mohamud said in a press statement from his office that he wishes Djiboutian people success, unity and prosperity on the occasion of Independence Day: “We share the momentous celebrations marking 38th anniversary of Independence Day with our brotherly Djiboutians. On behalf of Somali people and on my own behalf, I hereby convey the Independence Day congratulatory message to you, and I wish the people of Djibouti to live in success, unity and prosperity”.

President Mohamud praised neighboring Djibouti for proving successful in its role in helping Somalia.

“People and government of Djibouti have done a lot for us. They strived so hard to help us tag off crisis and hostilities in the country,” he said.

Djibouti is part of ongoing stabilization operations, and sent hundreds of peacekeepers serving with African Union Mission into Somalia.
