Somalia: Traffic police chief dies after battle with illness

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The commander of Somalia's Traffic police Ali Mohamed Ali (Ali Sharif) died on Wednesday night in Mogadishu, the Somali capital after a battle with an illness, Garowe Online reports.

Former Somali traffic police General Ali Mohamed Hirsi [Ali Gaab] has confirmed the death of Ali, saying that late commander has been lying in bed for months after medical treatment in India.

The sickness that was not disclosed has forced his retirement after his health condition has been getting worse in the past three months before his last breath, according to Hirse.

Hirse described the late Ali as a hardworking and committed commanding officer served the nation for many years during his life as he held several positions in the Traffic police.

The lifeless body of the fallen Traffic police commander has been laid to rest on Thursday morning, November 9 at a cemetery in Medina hospital in the capital.
