The attack started with a suicide attack by a car rigged with explosives which targetted the gate of the conference hall, followed by an attack by armed men who were killed before entering the hall.

up attacks against the government and the African Union forces in Somalia.

The attack was apparently carried out by a suicide car bomber, and three armed who failed to force their way into the conference centre before troops shot them dead.

The attack highlights the callenges facing Somalia’s government which is trying to restore relative stability across Somalia.
