MOGADISHU, Somalia, July 26, 2015 (Garowe Online)-A suicide bomber detonated a truck packed with a ton of explosives outside Jazeera hotel in Somalia’s capital Sunday, setting off a blazing blast that shattered large parts of the luxury hotel, and killed at least 8 people and wounded many others, officials said Sunday.

The heavily guarded hotel frequented by government officials and foreigners houses Chinese and Egyptian diplomats.

Police officials said the bomber has rammed his explosives-laden vehicle on the wall of the hotel, and the attack is one of the largest terrorist attacks in the horn of Africa nation.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack; however, officials blamed the al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab group which often carries out attacks in Somalia.
