Somalia yet to implement demand for basic health services-Minister

MOGADISHU, Somalia, September 3, 2015 (Garowe Online)-The war-ravaged East African nation has failed to implement growing demand for basic health services, Health Minister Hawo Hassan Mohamed said on VOA Somali Service on Thursday.
Mohamed complained about the financial constraints currently facing bodies in charge of meeting the key targets as the country is recovering from two-decade old conflict.
“Essential health services have not been achieved in the country yet. It’s because of lack of funds,” she said, adding that western donors are withholding the financial aid allotted for the improvement of now-battered health sector.
Minister’s remarks come at a time when preventable diseases are being reported in many parts in the country.
Somalia’s descendent into chaos in 1991 broke hospitals and other health centers into shatters.
