Morocco thrashes Somalia on day 2 of Arab Futsal Cup
Morocco comprehensively defeated Somalia 16-0 on the second day of the 2022 Arab Futsal Cup at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, with three other teams also claiming wins as the group tables start to take shape.
The 10-team tournament will run until June 28.
In Group 1, Kuwait defeated Mauritania 7-2, before Morocco was followed up by the thrashing Somalia.
After two rounds of matches, the Moroccans lead the table with six points, while Kuwait is in second on three, ahead of Mauritania on goal difference. Somalia is bottom of the table with no points.
In the three-team second group, Iraq defeated Algeria 3-2 to lead the table on four points, three ahead of Egypt. The Pharaohs, who had a day off on Tuesday, return to action today against bottom-of-the-table Algeria in the last round of the group stages.
Meanwhile, in Group 3, Libya overcame Palestine 2-0, to leave both teams on three points, with the former leading the table on goal difference.
Saudi Arabia remains at the bottom of the group and must beat Libya on Wednesday night if they are to progress to Friday’s quarterfinals.
