Dar Es Salaam: The Security officials in Tanzania have assured both locals and foreigners that they are in top gear and investigating possible terror attack threats in the country’s commercial capital, Dar Es Salaam, and key towns.

This follows a US statement issued to warn its citizens of a potential terror attack in Tanzania’s commercial capital.

U.S. embassy in Dar Es Salaam cautioned Americans from frequenting areas populated by westerners in Dar es Salaam and other regions within the East African country.

US statement reads “Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other Westerners in Dar es Salaam and elsewhere in Tanzania continue to be attractive targets to terrorists planning to conduct attacks. Terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, police stations, places of worship, and others.”

As per the statement, Americans were advised to keep a low profile, be alert to their surroundings, and always practice security measures.
“U.S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations,” said the U.S. embassy.

However, security forces in Tanzania said that the country is free from any kind of terrorist acts and the country's security and safety are ensured.

David Misime-Tanzanian police spoke person in a statement said that the force called for citizens to remain calm and continue with their daily activities.

In 2021, a terrorist killed four people - three police officers and a private security guard in Dar es Salaam. The officers were manning the French Embassy’s guardhouse.
