Addis Ababa - The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced today that they will provide more than $331 million in new humanitarian assistance for Ethiopia.

This funding will help support those affected by conflict, drought, and food insecurity throughout the country.

The assistance package includes $12 million from the State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration and over $319 million from USAID.

It brings the total U.S. humanitarian aid for the region to more than $780 million in 2023.

As the largest single-country provider of humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia, the United States aims to deliver critical, life-saving support. This includes food, shelter, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare efforts, education, and other essential services.

This announcement underlines the U.S. commitment to deepening its partnership with Africa, and it will provide much-needed support to the Ethiopian people as they face various challenges.
