MOGADISHU, Somalia - Mogadishu Jobs Fair is a major part of activities which are significantly contributing to job creation and employment opportunities in Somalia through establishing close cooperation with the thriving private sectors, companies, NGOs, TVET institutions, universities and government institutions for the possibility of accessing employment opportunities.

It is designed to create a social impact in local communities including job seekers, employers, training providers, recruitment and freelancing companies, business owners, and local authorities. Whether hoping to find a fresh start, a better job, or a new career direction, job seekers will find a wealth of exciting opportunities at this free job fair.

A variety of employers from both the public and private sectors will be eager to hire for immediate openings in a wide range of fields. Hano Academy is hosting this job fair at Elite Hotel Mogadishu on December 22nd 2022 from 800 to 1600.

The event was graced by government representative from different sectors, International Organisations and local business owners. Among the government representative was DG Abdullahi Mohamed Ali and Mr Yusuf Mohamed Adan - State Minister at the Ministry of Labour and Social Services; Mr Abdirahman Abdullahi - Vice Chairman Somali Chamber of Commerce and NGO’s Representative included Miss. Anisa Osman - Human Resource Manager at SOS Somalia; Mrs. Aisha Barhood - Project Coordinator at Somali National Women Organization and Mr Ahmed Nor Adan Acting Associate Director Advocacy & External Engagement on behalf of National Director World Vision Somalia.

The local business Employers representative include Mr Mohamed Hassan Head of Marketing at Amal Bank, representative from Idman Bank, Salaam Somali Bank among many others.

“The government is working towards strengthening national employment policy to create jobs and reduce unemployment rate in the country” State Minister Mr Yusuf Mohamed remarks during the Mogadishu job fair event.

“The Somali Chamber of Commerce is working towards creating favourable business opportunities for the youths we urge the youths to venture into business and be self -employed” Mr Abdirahman Abdullahi Vice Chairman Somali Chamber of Commerce remarks during the event addressing the youths.”

“Technology is vital for skill improvement and its necessity for today’s job market we urge the youths to embrace technology to increase their chances of employment” Mr Ahmed Nor Aden - World Vision Somalia.

There was panel discussion where the youths asked burning questions and were enlightened by the participants on job creation and skills improvement.

This event has featured over 45 areas in businesses and employers who are eager to meet job applicants as well as colleges and universities that will be ready to meet with individuals looking to further their education.

There were free services, resources, and tools to assist both job seekers and employers with the entire job search process, hiring and employment needs. The organising team had services available online and onsite to assist job seekers including an automated Job Match System, internet access, local papers, employment counselling, and career assessments, as well as, workshops on job searching, resume writing and interviewing techniques.
