GAROWE, Somalia-Puntland Government in northern Somalia has dismissed as “unfounded”allegations by Interim Galmudug Administration (IGA), asserting that it always serves the common good, Garowe Online reports.

Speaking at a news conference in Garowe on Monday, Puntland Security Minister Abdi Hirsi Ali (Qarjab) said, Puntland cannot be linked to recent fighting in Daadheer:

“It is known who’s fomenting problems in our territories.” “Puntland has never stirred hostility, and become a boon for either. We always work for the common good of [Somalis],” noted Qarjab.

The response came after Interim Galmudug Administration (IGA) in central Adado town blamed Puntland for clashes in Daadheer area.

Moreover, Puntland Security Minister commended members of the public for being cooperative in security matters with agencies charged with.

“I praise Puntland people for their critical role in Puntland security and stability.

I urge them to continue cooperating with security agencies,” he added.

Meanwhile, Qarjab chastised some security officials for failing to bring ministerial directives into effect, especially regarding neighborhood street vendors.

Puntland concluded counteroffensives against Al Shabaab militants in late March.
