GAROWE, Somalia, June 7, 2015(Garowe Online)-Puntland Government in northern Somalia has welcomed Jubaland’s standpoint on ties with Mogadishu-based Fedederal Government, a day after a low turnout session voted in favor of motion against Jubba regional assembly, Garowe Online reports.

Presidential spokesman said in statement that Puntland condemns the no-confidence motion, and calls Saturday’s vote ‘unconstitutional’ which could plunge the country deeper into another crisis.

“Puntland government clarifies that the motion runs counter to Somalia’s Federal Constitution, Somalia Federalism and Vision 2016,” read the press statement from Puntland presidency.

Continuing, Puntland lashed out at the Federal Parliament for aiming to relapse the country into bureaucratic paralysis:”Puntland Government fully supports Jubaland state’s decision over the parliamentary vote that declares regional assembly ‘illegitimate’”.

Amidst state formation process in central Somalia, Puntland unveiled that it would stand by federal member states and emerging administrations as per the Provisional Federal Constitution [PFC].

On Saturday, 142 MPs of the 275-seat-chamber of parliament voted in favor of a vote of no confidence against 75-member regional assembly.

At a press conference in the southern port city of Kismayo, Jubaland Vice President Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismael (Fartaag) announced that his administration was breaking off all relations with UN-backed central government.
