Puntland President Receives Newly Appointed Ethiopian Consul in Garowe

GAROWE, Somalia — Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni on Monday received Major General Tagesse Lambamo Dimbore, the newly appointed Consul of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Puntland, at the Presidential Palace in Garowe on Sunday.

According to the Puntland Presidency, the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Puntland and Ethiopia, particularly in the areas of trade, security, and regional cooperation.

President Deni welcomed the new consul and expressed Puntland’s commitment to maintaining strong and cooperative relations with Ethiopia, a key neighbor with long-standing historical and economic ties to Somalia’s northern regions.

Major General Dimbore conveyed his government’s appreciation for Puntland’s collaboration and reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to enhance mutual relations and partnership on regional stability and development.

The appointment of the new consul comes as both Ethiopia and Puntland seek to deepen sub-national and cross-border ties amid broader regional diplomatic engagement in the Horn of Africa.
