MOGADISHU, Somalia - At least two people were killed, several injured when a car bomb exploded outside the Village restaurant near Somalia's presidential palace in Mogadishu on Thursday morning, Garowe Online reports.

A witness said a suicide bomber has rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a restaurant frequented by local journalists, killing two people, including a security guard.

A reporter for a local radio station in Mogadishu is among other five people who were wounded in the bomb blast at the resturant located next to the country's National theater.

Al Qaeda-affiliated Islamic militant group Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for Thursday's car bomb attack in Mogadishu, according to a statement posted on pro-Al Shabaab websites.

The attack comes as the newly elected federal MPs were expected to take part in the sworn-in event in the capital.

Last week, at least 29 people were killed in a car bomb attack at local market in Mogadishu, the latest in a string of attacks in the capital by Al shabaab militants.
