JOWHAR, Somalia-Amid efforts to reopen Jowhar State formation convention, clan elders have accused Somalia’s Federal Government (SFG) of persistent interference in agendas, Garowe Online reports.

Interior Ministry, which has been under fire, deployed police forces in Jowhar ahead of the convention resumption.

Elder Musse Sheikh Osman told Puntland-based independent station Radio Garowe during Tuesday’s interview that the process was hijacked at the beginning, faulting hindrances on constant meddling.

Asked about Hiran’s push for a separate administration, the elder hoped the two regions will merge to form a federal member state sandwiched between Galmudug and Banadir.

Continuing, he noted that ongoing efforts seem precarious, and hinted at the possibility of holding inclusive convention after 2016 Presidential election scheduled for October 30.

UN-backed national government is seeking to expedite the formation of new state before polls.

On July 21, Hiran traditional leaders raised stakes for state formation endeavor after announcing their intention to set up a full-fledged administration on their own.
