MOGADISHU, Somalia- Staffs at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport have gone on strike on Monday morning in a dispute over months of unpaid wages, Garowe online reports.

The staffs protesting at the front gate of Mogadishu’s Airport asked for their unpaid wages and improvement of working conditions.

The employees were unhappy about the practices of the company managing the Airport “Favori” claiming it’s unfairly imposing harsh fines on local staffs at the same time giving exceptional privileges to the expats working at the Airport.

Some of the protesters also asked for improvement of salaries, claiming that workers with university degree receive the same wages of other workers.

The striking staffs appealed to the Government to intervene in the matter to receive their unpaid salaries and improve working conditions.

The Turkish owned company Favori was granted the rights of managing Mogadishu’s International Airport following Turkey building the new terminal of the Airport.
