MOGADISHU, Somalia-Security forces have foiled a plot to carryout motorcycle bomb attack in Mogadishu on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

National Security Ministry spokesman Abdimalik Moallim told the local media that a botched explosion killed an assailant on his motorbike near Mogadishu’s Hero Germany.

He said, the would-be suicide bomber was Al Shabaab member who might have targeted key installations.

“The security forces immediately launched a search operation to track down where the bomb was prepared,” said Moallim.

In a separate incident, Al Shabaab assailants hurdled a hand grenade at a group of soldiers inside bustling Bakara market.

The grenade explosion wounded three soldiers and a civilian bystander, police and medics have confirmed.

Al Shabaab hones rampages during the holy month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, Somali authorities have put all security agencies on standby for possible terror attacks.
