Somalia PM jets off to Qatar for bilateral talks
MOGADISHU, Somalia, March 17, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has jetted off to Doha at official invitation for bilateral talks on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.
Cabinet members and parliamentarians have seen off Prime Minister Sharmarke at Mogadishu’s Adan Adde International airport.
Government spokesman Ridwan Haji Abdiweli said that following invitation from Qatari government, Prime Minister Sharmarke departed for Doha for key talks.
Sharmarke will be discussing support by Qatar for Somalia education and aviation sectors, and the inauguration of Qatar airways direct flights to the now increasingly busy destination.
The war-ravaged horn of Africa nation has attracted international carriers including Turkish airways and Uganda air.
Qatar trip follows a visit by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to the Egyptian resort, Sharm el-Sheikh where he met with Egypt leader Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and other international diplomats.
