MOGAIDISHU, Somalia- The President of Somali Federal government, Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed “Farmajo”, has called for an emergency meeting with military and security chiefs following the deadly bombing in the capital Mogadishu on yesterday, Garowe Online reports.

The meeting took place at Villa Somalia and participated by several ministers, head of military, Intelligence and security agencies to talk about yesterday’s bombing at Makka Al-Mukarama road near the Presidential Palace.

A car loaded with explosives went off at a security checkpoint after it was stopped and seized by the Police officers.

However, during today's meeting, President Farmajo called the officials to strengthen the security in the capital to deter further terrorist attacks carried out by the extremist group al-Shabaab.

The meeting comes following AMISOM’s announcement that it will handover the security responsibility to the Somali national army (SNA) on 2018, ahead of expected exit of the AU forces from the country.
