​Somalia: Prime Minister meets security chiefs in Mogadishu

MOGAIDHSU, Somalia- The Prime Minister of Somali Federal government, Hasan Ali Khayre, held an emergency meeting with the head of security agencies in his office in the Somali capital Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

The meeting came following yesterday’s suicide bombing that resulted in the death of many civilians and injury of others including the district commissioner of Wadajir.

Federal Minister of Information Abdirahman Omar Osman “Yariisow” spoke to the media and highlighted about the meeting agenda and government’s plan to thwart terrorist attacks in the capital.

Mayor of Mogadishu was also reported has participated in the meeting to discuss enforcing security and ways to flash out militants form the neighborhoods in Mogadishu.

“The purpose of the meeting is to take lessons from the recent terrorist attack at Wadajir district headquarters, which resulted in many causalities,” said Yariiswo.

However, Minister of Information reiterated government’s commitment to wipe out al-Shabaab group from large swaths in the country as its influence is diminishing.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Khayre urged the public to cooperate with the security agencies to deter al-Shabaab attacks in Mogadishu.

This comes amid increased security measures in the past weeks by the joint security forces comprise of the Police, Army and Intelligence as part of the "Mogadishu Stabilization Mission" to secure the city.
