MOGADISHU, Somalia - A number of officials in the federal government of Somalia have sent congratulatory messages to the People's Republic of China on its 72nd anniversary, a manifestation of great bonds that exist between the two nations.

China has been a close friend of Somalia and is one of the countries which has established an embassy in Mogadishu, the Somali capital. For a long time, a number of counties bolted out of Mogadishu due to political instability and terrorism.

Osman Dubbe, the Information Minister, who also won senatorial seat, said that China has shown how hard work and integrity can create an economic giant, and spoke highly of the country's significant contributions in the fields of space, infrastructure, and technology among others.

On her part, Health Minister Fawziya Abikar Nur, Minister, thanked the Chinese government for its consistent support for the Horn of Africa country during the pandemic. China has been a key contributor of medical consignments to Somalia throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs. Nur also congratulated China on its National Day and expressed his gratitude for China's donation of vaccines this year. Somalia has been struggling to contain Covid-19 due to the dilapidated healthcare infrastructure, caused by the instability.

Fei Shengchao, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, said that China is preparing to donate another batch of vaccines to Somalia to better protect the local people. She hailed political leaders for a recent agreement on elections.

"China has continued to give tangible assistance to Somalia in humanitarian aid, education, medicine, and other areas, in support of Somalia's peace and reconstruction," Fei said during the event.

Somalia established diplomatic ties with China in 1960. Since then, the two countries have closely worked together.
