Trump Orders U.S. Military Strikes on ISIS Targets in Somalia

WASHINGTON DC - U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he has ordered precision military air strikes targeting senior ISIS leaders and their operatives in Somalia.

The President stated that the strikes were aimed at individuals who were found hiding in caves and posed a direct threat to the United States and its allies.

According to the reports, the strikes focused on destroying the hideouts of the group, emphasizing the precision and strategic nature of the operation. The move underscores the ongoing commitment of the U.S. to combat terrorism globally, even as the focus shifts from widespread military engagement to targeted operations.

This comes amidst a backdrop where the U.S. has been reevaluating its military presence and strategy in various parts of the world, particularly in regions like Somalia where Al-Shabaab and other extremist groups have been active.

ISIS is based in Puntland, where it was established in 2015 by former Al-Shabaab leader Abdulkadir Mumin,  and the group has now been under an offensive for two months by the troops of Somali Federal State, which saw the capture of dozens of its bases and murder of many fighters, including foreigners, according to local authorities.
