NAIROBI, Kenya - For the next three weeks, Degodia community religious leader Wabar Abdille Abdi will traverse Kenya where he's scheduled to meet a host of leaders and professionals.

Cherished as the de facto religious leader for Degodia community, Abdille arrived in Kenya on Sunday where he was warmly received by local leaders and Ethiopian ambassador to Kenya Meles Alem.

Kenya's National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale was among high profile government leaders who ushered the cultural leader in Nairobi.

"Graced the celebration of one of the great community and cultural leader Wabar Abdille Wabar Abdi of the Degodia clan, Somali community living in the Horn of Africa," he tweeted.

Peace, stability, and reconciliation dominate Abdille's trip to Nairobi, with a special focus on instability in the Horn of Africa nations.

While Somalia is struggling with decades of civil war and terrorism, Ethiopia and Eritrea have witnessed ethnic clashes in recent years which have caused deaths of thousands of people.

According to Duale, "Warbar Abdille prayed for unity, peace, and stability among our communities and the nation. He prayed for the Kenyan leadership under President Uhuru Kenyatta."

The Degodia community occupies parts of North Eastern Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. The Supreme leader lives in Addis Ababa.

During his trip, Abdille is also set to meet political and professionals from the Horn of Africa where development will be broadly discussed, Duale said.

On Sunday, Abdille urged the Somali community and it’s leadership to 'shun claim and forge a united front in order to spearhead the economic development'.

Wabar Abdille is the 12th Wabar in the leadership lineage and this is his first-time visit in Kenya to enhance peace and unity between neighboring communities and countries.

Somalia is expected to hold polls next year, despite simmering political tensions. The Degodia leader is keen to rally for peace and tranquility in Mogadishu.

Also, Ethiopia is expected to hold polls in 2020. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is increasingly under pressure to quell ethnic antagonism.

In Nairobi, the Supreme leader also met Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe, who has been at loggerheads with Ethiopia and FGS.

During the meeting, a source says, Abdille supported 'sovereignty and regional leadership' of Jubaland state in Somalia.

Politicians, religious leaders, civil servants, youth, women & professional leaders for gracing the occasion, Duale said.

In attendance were Ambassadors from Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Governors Mohamud (Marsabit), Ali Korane (Garissa) and Hon Abdi (Wajir) among others.

The religious leader will also meet top Kenyan government officials with a source intimating that he's also likely to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House before he leaves.
