KDF will not exit Somalia until Al-Shabaab is defeated, says Kenyatta
NAIROBI, Kenya - President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday reiterated that Kenya will continue to be part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) until such a time when peace is achieved in the war-ravaged country.
Kenyatta said Kenyan troops remain steadfast in their drive to bring peace in the region.
He said that Kenya’s Defence Forces remain steadfast in its mission to bring lasting peace and development in the Horn of Africa region, with unwavering zeal and determination.
“In pursuance of this objective and that of the international community, our troops will continue being part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), until such a time that this objective has been achieved,” he said as he commissioned the sixth batch of military cadets in Rift Valley.
“As a country, we will continue to shine in the global arena and, indeed, achieve the prosperity we desire for our people as long as all of us holding key national leadership,” he added.
