Ruto fires warning shots at warring Sudanese Generals

NAIROBI - Kenya's President William Ruto has asked warring Sudanese Generals to "consider where the country has come from" and immediately stop "escalating the war to nasty levels" in what would severely affect innocent civilians, some of who have been displaced from their homes.

Ruto, who was receiving the report on immigration within East and the Horn of Africa, wondered why General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo of the Rapid Support Forces [RSF] and Transitional Sovereign Council leader Fattah Al-Burhan would fight over power and end up destroying critical infrastructure within the country.

The two factions have been fighting endlessly with RSF accusing Sudan Armed Forces [SAF] of targeting innocent civilians in their expeditions.

Despite calls for a ceasefire, the two parties have continued to fire missiles, especially in the capital Khartoum, leading to the mass evacuation of foreign nationals.

"Also, many of us are affected by the challenge that we have in Sudan at the moment, and as a region, as a continent, and as a people, our message to the generals in Sudan is unequivocal.

"They have no business whatsoever destroying the hard-earned years of developing Sudan," Ruto insisted, noting that restoration of normalcy in the country is no longer an option but an obligation that ought to be undertaken as soon as possible.

So far, 409 Kenyans have been successfully evacuated from the war-torn country. Somalia has on her part evacuated over 150 people, with a number of them using road transport to neighboring South Sudan and Ethiopia according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ruto also vowed to aid the Democratic Republic of Congo to regain its political stability. This came after he deployed KDF soldiers to DRC to help foster peace. The president was tasked by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development [IGAD] to expedite the mediation process in Sudan before the conflict escalates to dangerous levels.
