Somali national behind knife attack at Mosque in South Africa
CAPE TOWN - Two worshipers and a suspect have died in the Mosque attack in Malmesbury, Western Cape. It is alleged that a 50-year-old suspect entered the mosque and stabbed two worshipers to death.
The police were quick to react and found the suspect still on the scene and he was asked to hand himself over, but, he did not obey the order, instead, he attacked the police and he was shot just outside the Mosque by the police.
Western Cape Police spokesperson Andre Traut said: “We can confirm the death of two worshipers and the suspect in the Mosque and a murder case has been opened by the police.”
It was earlier alleged that the suspect is from Somalia, however, the police said that at this stage they cannot confirm the nationality of the suspect.
Mosque attacks are becoming a norm in the country; recently another attack took place in Verulam, Durban, where three worshippers were slaughtered to death during the worship session.
