Hormuud Salaam Foundation Partners with SomaliREN and Tabaarak ICT to Drive Tech Skill Development for Somali Students

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Hormuud Salaam Foundation, in partnership with SomaliREN and Tabaarak ICT Solutions, officially launched the "Bile Initiative" on October 27, 2024, at Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu. This initiative targets final-year Computer Science students, offering them specialized training, mentorship, and employment opportunities.

The program, which aims to empower 150 students, will provide intensive training in areas such as MEAN Stack, .NET, and UI/UX development, along with real-time project experience. Participants will also undergo a six-month internship at Tabaarak ICT Solutions, enhancing their practical skills and employability.

Abdullahi Nur Osman, CEO of the Hormuud Salaam Foundation, emphasized the initiative's role in fostering innovation and socio-economic advancement. "Empowering young minds is essential for building a prosperous future for Somalia," he stated.

State Minister of Communications and Technology, Hon. Ahmed Osman Dirie, praised the initiative for addressing critical unemployment issues through skill enhancement, especially in light of advancements in artificial intelligence affecting traditional job markets.

The Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, **Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir**, highlighted the importance of collaboration in such educational endeavors, applauding the partnership for its dedication to advancing national technological capabilities.

Hon. Yusuf Mohamed Aden, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, called the Bile Initiative a significant step towards Somalia's technological advancement, investing in both the youth's future and national progress.

Dr. Mohamed Bidey from SomaliREN noted, "This program bridges our universities with the tech industry, ensuring our students are both academically accomplished and industry-ready."

The initiative not only equips students with the necessary skills but also connects them to potential employment, with many graduates expected to secure positions at Tabaarak ICT or through referrals.

Gure Abdi Anshur, CEO of Tabaarak ICT Solutions, expressed optimism about nurturing future technology leaders in Somalia, emphasizing the importance of training and mentorship provided by the initiative.

The Bile Initiative marks a significant step towards developing a skilled workforce in Somalia, promising a brighter future for its technology sector and youth.
