Kamala Harris set to push US interest with visit to 3 African countries

NAIROBI, Kenya - Kamala Harris -US Vice President is set to grace the opening ceremony of Summit for Democracy scheduled to take place in Zambia.

The second in command is also expected to visit Tanzania and Ghana.

This trip is part of the plan by the Joe Biden administration to counter Chinese influence in the African continent.

The decision by the US to have more engagement with African leaders was reached during the US -Africa Summit that took place in 2022.

According to a press statement from her office reads“The trip will strengthen the United States’ partnerships throughout Africa and advance our shared efforts on security and economic prosperity.”

She will be arriving in Ghana on March 26, then proceed to Tanzania on March 29 and Zambia on March 31 to April 3.

Kamala is expected to meet Ghanian President Nana Akufo-Addo, Tanzania’s Samia Hassan, and Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia with democracy, economic growth, food security, and the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine top of her agenda.
