​Somalia: Puntland Parliament votes no confidence against the government

GAROWE, Puntland- The state Parliament of Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland Parliament has majority voted against Puntland government on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.

Tuesday’s no-confidence vote was the result of tensions between Puntland President Abdiwali Mohamed Ali “Gaas” and state lawmakers over many issues mainly security of the region.

47 state lawmaker voted against the government, whereas 9 abstained and 1 voted in favor of the government.

However, there is no comment was released from Puntland President Ali regarding the new development in the region. 

Yesterday, it was reported that state lawmakers and Puntland President held extensive talks about the tension but the talks failed to lead to any success, which resulted to today's no confidence vote.
