Somalia: Puntland speaks 24 hours after twin blasts kill scores in Galkayo
GALKAYO, Somalia-Puntland Vice President Abdihakin Abdullahi Haji Omar has spoken before reporters, 24 hours after Al Shabaab suicide bombers killed up to 32 people in central Galkayo city by Sunday, Garowe Online reports.
Omar visited the sites of suicide bombings before addressing reporters on surging casualties from the terrorist inferno.
Al Shabaab immediately claimed credit for the suicide attacks firstly torn through women traders inside busy Dayaha market.
Another explosives-laden car followed, killing many more in front of Galkayo municipality complex.
The death toll in the bombings was climbing to 31 while the wounded was being reported to be 61 as of Monday.
Puntland Vice President said, critically wounded people will be airlifted for further treatment abroad.
President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, who was due to land in Galkayo on account of the terror attacks, is expected to continue his trip to Turkey where Somali regional Presidents are to attend a conference.
