Somalia: Warring clans reach peace deal in Sool

GAROWE, Somalia, November 15, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Traditional leaders have achieved peace deal between two warring clans in northern Sool region on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.
Efforts to mediate in clan revenge attacks have been underway in the village of Hoore on Somalia’s border with Ethiopia.
According to a several-point agreement seen by Garowe Online, Puntland and Jubaland clan elders involved in mediations described conflict that claimed 55 people from two warring clans in timeline.
Families of those killed in the clan clashes will be compensated 100 camels for men and 50 for a female victim as blood money, or Diyatt payment in Islamic tradition.
Hafid Abdirizak Ahmed in Hoorre told GO that the blood money will be paid in six months as per the terms of the peace deal.
Somali Ethiopian paramilitary units have been in charge of security of mediations for neutrality.
The long-running clan fighting between the clans renewed in Qoriley, leaving at least 20 dead earlier in October.
