Dr. Weinstein, ‘Garowe Online Contributor’, dies aged 73

Top Garowe Online contributor and Professor of Political Science at Purdue University Michael A. Weinstein, was found dead in his home aged 73.

Dr. Weinstein has become a regular contributor for the Online for three years, writing about the bloody conflict in the Horn of African nation, terror campaign by Al Shabaab group and most importantly, the country’s fledgling federalism.

Purdue professor’s death remains mystery after he was found dead in his apartment on September 17, according to Purdue Exponent.

Focusing on researches and other academic activities, he actively spent years in teaching Political Science and Current Political Ideology in the department of Political Science at Purdue University.

“We grieve the demise of Professor Weinstein. He will be remembered for his factual and bold views on the political situation in Somalia,” said Garowe Online founder. “His contribution has long been significant, and I pay tribute to late Weinstein of Purdue University”.

Dr. Weinstein authored over two dozen books. Among the most recent books is definitive ‘Action, Contemplation, Vitalism’ which was published in December 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Deena Weinstein, a sociology professor at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
